1. Why does Swedwatch use cookies?

On the website swedwatch.org, we use cookies. Among other things, we want to use analytical cookies to analyze how you, as a visitor, use our website. We do this to improve the website. You choose whether you want to consent to us placing cookies to do this, and of course, you can withdraw your consent at any time. Your consent means that we collect information about your device and how you use the website. When you use the website, so-called functional cookies, which do not require your consent, are also placed. The Electronic Communications Act (2022:482), Chapter 9, Section 28, regulates the use of cookies. In cases where the use of cookies leads to the processing of personal data, data protection legislation also becomes applicable.

2. What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that the website you visit requests to save on your computer (also includes corresponding devices with internet connection such as tablets or mobile phones). For more general information about cookies, see www.pts.se/cookies.

There are two types of cookies: persistent cookies and session cookies. On Swedwatch’s website, we use both permanent cookies and session cookies.

Session cookies are temporary cookies. They are temporarily stored when you, as a visitor, are browsing our website and are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies are stored as a file on your computer for a certain period until you, as a visitor, or the server that sent them, delete them.

Cookies can also be divided into first-party cookies and third-party cookies. First-party cookies are set by the owner of a website (in this case, swedwatch.org) and third-party cookies are set by another website. On Swedwatch’s website, we only use first-party cookies.

Swedwatch uses Google Analytics as a statistical tool to get an overview of how our visitors use the website and to evaluate how the website can be further developed, for example, to improve content, navigation, and structure on the website. The data is stored on Google’s servers and the disclosure of data to third countries that do not have an adequate level of protection, including the USA, may occur.

4. Changing the use of cookies on your computer

When you first visit swedwatch.org, you choose whether you want to consent to us placing certain types of cookies on your computer. You can also withdraw your consent at any time by clicking on Cookie settings in the lower left corner of the website. This will bring up the box where you can again choose not to consent to the placement of cookies.

If you do not want cookies to be placed on your computer, you can also change the settings for the use of cookies in your browser and you can always delete previously placed cookies from your browser. In your browser settings, you can block certain or all cookies so that they are not stored on your device.
