Improving Working Conditions at Chinese Natural Stone Companies
REPORT | 17 January 2008This report investigates the Chinese natural stone industry. The report is based on results from visits to factories, suppliers and subcontractors in the Chinese provinces of Fujian and Shandong.
The research identified serious problems in the area of health and safety. The most common injuries are cuts and bruises to the hands, as well as crushed fingers, among those moving heavy slabs and stones. In the province of Fujian, there is also a high risk of silicosis.
